About Stephen
Stephen Korte learned the meaning of hard work, respect, and dependability growing up on a farm in Pike County near Bowling Green.
Stephen has been married to his wife Angi for 12 years. She has shared Stephen's dedication to the community by serving as the manager of the Bowling Green License DOR Fee Office and currently serves the citizens of Bowling Green in city hall where she has worked for over 10 years. Stephen and Angi have two daughters, Samantha and Devyn and one son, Luke.
Stephen's parents, Wayne and Pam Korte, and grandparents, Ted and Loretta (Behlmann) Korte and the late Floyd and Tressa (Straube) Chamberlain, also spent most of their lives in Pike County. As active leaders in this community, they have all had a tremendous influence on his life. His sisters, Carolyn, Diane, and Lisa, and brother Michael all benefited from the example and guidance of their parents and grandparents.
Stephen received his education at St. Clement Catholic School and graduated from Bowling Green R-1 High School in 1990. His community and church activities include serving on the Board of Directors for St. Clement School for four years – two years as president; a member of the Knights of Columbus and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) currently serving as the 2008-09 District 17 Chaplain.
Stephen is a 16-year veteran of the United States Naval Reserves with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He is assigned to the Operations Department of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) Fifteen. Stephen's experience in the military and active duty service overseas has instilled a loyalty to his country and to its citizens. It is a loyalty that he will maintain and pass down to the citizens of Pike County.
